Music
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything” Plato
At St Mary’s, we strive to equip children with the skills needed to be musicians and promote a love of music. We recognise the benefits of music for mental health and wellbeing, and the power of music to bring communities together. We aim to provide children with opportunities to experience a variety of live and recorded music, and to make music with each other.
From our school newsletter 18th November 2022:
We have been thinking about the talent shining out of our young people this week. The choir shared their song at the memorial service last Friday. This moving service helped us to think about those who have given so much to secure our freedom.
My wonderfully talented niece Sarah and her parents performed a wide range of music for our children in worship. Sarah, aged 14 has been playing the violin for many years. It has taken many, many hours of rehearsal for her to become so talented. My younger brother plays a range of instruments including the recorder. This was especially important to me that we shared this with our children as we are all going to be learning how to play the recorder as part of our music provision.
Why not watch this talented young person Karolina playing her violin (only 13 years old)
